Although never attaining a fame & reputatiin of his older brother, world health organization wrote & sang lead on virtually all of the Kinks' songs, Dave Davies wrote a select few hits himself (notably "Death of a Clown" & "Living on a Thin Line"), & his unusual, high-high voice was the vital a share of the Kinks' healthy. However his rock bequest was cemented inside 1964, when he created the abuzz, slam-dunk power chords for his brother's "You Really Got Me." Davies has given various accounts of how he had that healthy, including 1 tale where he said he slashed a speaker cones in his eight-watt Elpico amplifier with a razor blade to achieve a distorted healthy which he sought for his guitar; at more days, he said he utilized knitting needles.

Davies published an autobiography, entitled Kink, in 1996, in which he discussed his bisexuality eventually, including the intimate relationship by using Long John Baldry.

In June 30, 2004, Davies suffered a stroke in an elevator at the London offices of the BBC, where he got been promoting his latest album, Bug. He was freed from either a hospital on August 27.
